The Best Crappy Comic You Will Ever Read

What happens when you let your imagination fly!?

Well, your imagination leaves you, eats something you could never have imagined, and comes back to you to regurgitate it at your feet.

What’s fun is sitting on your haunches, looking at the wet mess and rying to figure out where the heck it came from!

I must apologize for the cut-off two page spread 😦

Mr. Potato was always meant for print. This comic was in my hardcover collection The Humorless Joke. It was also reprinted on its own with a nice cardstock cover and hand-pressed badge.

I only ever sold one copy of each ._.

Ahh, but I love this little world of Mr. Potato. The character himself comes from my childhood doodles. The story comes from adult suffering!

I sincerely hope you enjoyed reading it. 🙂 It’s def one of my favs.

See you soon.

Comin’atcha With A Little Ditty

Deamon on Broom

I’ve been digging through my old comics and found some goodies I would love to share with you all.

So let’s get to it!

Enjoy

Look at that BEAUTIFUL hand I drew there /\ …in that last panel! Phew! It looks REAL! j/k

This is an old comic, but like all things from the past, it teaches me what my talent really is like: I am good enough to make lines appear out of nowhere, and to tell a small story.

Too often, I get caught up on mistakes and details. And too often I wish to throw it all away. But I get a bigger kick out of hanging onto it 😛

Future Sex

image

Two live, warm bodies stroke a smooth, sleek, spherical machine. The gizmo slurps up their biological data and marries it. An explosion of well-being saturates the two beings in an erotic, state-of-the-art performance of man-machine love.

All the lovin, without all the clean-up. 😉

Prenatal Ro84N

image

Robyn floats in his artificial womb. His parents watch from the other side of the transparent, plastic belly. He has been coded with their DNA and their favorite attributes have been applied. All that’s left is for the accelerated growth cycle to finish so he can be mechanically cleaned up and presented.

Isn’t the miracle of birth beautiful?

A Comic Ditty by Sam Graham

image

Lonely Lisa drawn by my friend and comics collaborator, Sam Graham!

The title character is a precursor to his animated web series, Creepy Caleb:

Sam and I have been making comics together for almost a decade. We were once closed off from the rest of the world in a studio in the seedy art district of downtown L.A. with two other collaborators: Perry J. Kneisel and S. Tyler Stafford. Together, with the help of a super movie star, we created a graphic novel, Hotah.

That was the first time our dreams became realities.

Before that, we were kicked out of Amoeba Records for selling zines!

2015 Purge of Sketches

image

This last year was a dark year. A lot of stress and anxiety and fear about money, love and creativity. Despite the external pains, I still continued to put pencil and pen to paper!
The result of my frantic sketching is a couple reams of now unusable paper… and some personal sketches that I like a lot!
Please let me share them with you…

As you can see, there was a lot of penciled faces 🙂
A lot of these images are characters from stories in my mind, slowly being put down to the page inch by inch.
My hand moves, but Time is faster.

I’ll leave you with my favorite poem…

When I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has gleaned my teeming brain,
Before high-pilèd books, in charactery,
Hold like rich garners the full ripened grain;
When I behold, upon the night’s starred face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And think that I may never live to trace
Their shadows with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour,
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love—then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Till love and fame to nothingness do sink.

-John Keats
